Affiliate Marketing is a form of marketing used by many business leverage the selling power of other people. Affiliates act as a middleman or lady between the merchant and the customer and for every sale or lead the affiliate can send the merchant they will be paid a commission. This method of marketing is nothing new and revenue sharing schemes have been used by travel and insurance firms and in dozens of other industries for many years. The affiliate marketing concept was quickly adopted by the web world with the some the first web companies starting affiliate programs very early on in the history of the World Wide Web. Merchants won’t solely rely on the affiliates to bring them customers but affiliates will drive merchants a lot of business and for this reason merchants will often pay affiliates a generous commission.
